At Valley Equine Associates, we take pride in our ability to provide the best available equine veterinary care to our valued patients. We understand the unique needs of horses and their owners, and we’re well prepared to meet all of those needs to help your animal reach its greatest potential and enjoy a long, happy and healthy life. We offer a broad range of comprehensive equine-specific services designed to assist our patients through every life stage. These services include but are not limited to:
Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy is a treatment that is designed to assist with the musculoskeletal problems that many horses suffer from. It can also be used to treat lameness and even soft tissue diseases. Shockwave therapy has been proven to reduce pain and promote healing by quickly and painlessly delivering waves or pulses through the body to the desired treatment area. Valley Equine Associates is proud to offer this advanced technology to help manage the health of our patients.
Racetrack
Because of our close proximity to many area racetracks, our veterinarians have extensive experience with sports medicine and racetrack practice medicine to help horses achieve maximum performance. Our racetrack practice includes lameness and respiratory diagnostics and therapy, which can easily be performed right at the farm, stable or racetrack. We use cutting edge technology, such as IRAP therapy and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to improve performance and help patients reach their fullest potential.
Ambulatory Services
Valley Equine Associates is fully equipped to provide complete ambulatory care for our equine patients, on the premise of any area barn, farm or stable. Ambulatory cases include routine wellness examinations, laceration care, colic workups, internal medicine, advanced diagnostic testing, lameness exams, reproductive services and daytime emergency care.
Pre-Purchase and Lameness Exams
Prior to making a significant investment in the purchase of a horse, buyers want to be sure the animal they are getting is healthy. For this reason, pre-purchase examinations are highly recommended, as they can be used to identify potential concerns ahead of time. We perform pre-purchase exams on horses at our clinic. These exams include thorough “nose to tail” physical examinations as well as a variety of diagnostic tests, such as blood work, digital x-rays, ultrasounds and reproductive exams. We also use a variety of methods to screen for lameness.
